Art and culture: Sinti and Roma in focus - LMU invites you!

Maria-Theresia-Straße 21, 81675 München, Deutschland - In Munich, a significant event will take place on December 9, 2024, which deals with the visibility of Sinti and Roma. The internationally recognized artist Malgorzata Mirga-Tas, who is currently working as an artist in Residence at the Käte Hamburger Kolleg Global DIS: Connect of the Ludwig Maximilians University (LMU), is particularly focused on the realities of Roma and Sinti. Together with art historian Wojciech Szymanski, Mirga-Tas is researching the cultural traces of the Roma in Munich, which go back to the 19th century. These results are presented as part of an Artist Talk, to which all interested parties are invited, such as wikipedia Notes.

The event in Munich will offer a platform to not only bring the historical but also the current life of the Roma and Sinti alive. It symbolizes an important step towards promoting cultural dialogue and the visibility of this community in society. In addition to the art-historical aspects, the active role of Mirga-Tas in the area of the Romani art movement is also emphasized, which she drives through various initiatives and exhibitions.
