A cook who worked in a pizzeria in Northern Burgenland for eleven months received only 100 euros net per day for his daily work of over ten hours. This is a worrying example of wage and social dumping, as the Chamber of Labor reported. The cook was only registered as a part -time force with 20 hours per week at the Austrian Health Insurance Fund (ÖGK). This incorrect message meant that his special payments and the vacation allowance were calculated on the basis of this part -time employment.

After an intervention by the Chamber of Labor, the cook received an additional payment of gross 3,250 euros. The premium bases at the ÖGK were also corrected accordingly. Martin Sugetich from the Chamber of Labor described this incident as symptomatic for the prevailing grievances in the catering area.
