Every 4th Lower Saxony feels strange: trust in politics disappears!
A shocking result brings light on the deeply split opinions in Lower Saxony: Every fourth residents sometimes feels "like a stranger in their own country" - the presence of many Muslims is mentioned as the main reason. A current study by the Institute for Democracy Research at the University of Göttingen states that important topics such as migration, climate crisis and rising energy prices are the greatest concerns of people in Lower Saxony.
But it is not just these fears that the Lower Saxony deal. Trust in politics has achieved a historical low. As the of course reports magazine Year 2021 decreased to a meager 12 percent. "People are state -supporting, but increasingly dissatisfied," explains Simon Franzmann, director of the institute in Göttingen.

Trust in the public service media and the protection of the constitution has also declined drastically. In 2021, 69 percent trusted the media and 76 percent of the protection of the constitution, in 2023 it is only 40 or 50 percent. While the federal government is hardly encouraged by the Lower Saxony and only enjoys 18 percent satisfaction, the state government is enjoying Prime Minister Stephan Weil greater popularity - 45 percent are satisfied with their work, and in local politics it looks even better: 51 percent of those surveyed praise them.
However, the contradiction to the so -called remigration, which is rejected by the majority of those surveyed, is interesting. According to Philipp Harfst, director of study, there is no strong interest in sending foreigners back home, even if jobs become scarce. Despite this open attitude, migration-critical thinking comes across fertile soil, whereby between 20 and 30 percent of the individual racist statements surveyed, Islamiq .The tornness of the community
Although the proportion of the population that attaches extremist ideologies remains low - only about 1.5 percent of Lower Saxony have a closed right -wing worldview - the study shows increasing dissatisfaction with the political leadership and media landscape. Parties such as the CDU and SPD were at least minimally able to stick to the sympathy scale, while the Greens and FDP cut off worse and the left and AfD remain the unpopular parties.
These survey results also make a highlight of the deeply anchored fears and suspicion in society and ask both political leadership and citizens to find ways to promote mutual understanding and cooperation. It remains to be seen how Lower Saxony react to these alarming findings and try to restore people's trust.
