Hersbruck shines again: Modernization for autistic residents completed!
The Rummelsberger Diakonie in Hersbruck started renovating house 4 on the Haus Weiher campus. This project should be completed by February 2025 and aims to improve living comfort for eleven autistic residents. The construction work started in spring 2024 and included several significant modernization measures.
The planned work includes the renewal of the care baths and the installation of a freely standing and a large corner bath. In addition, new acoustic ceilings are installed in residential and dining areas as well as in the hallway. The kitchens in both living groups are also modernized and designed safely. Practical innovations include, among other things, that the stove does not lead to electricity and the refrigerator can be closed.
extensive revaluation in the outdoor area
In addition to the indoor renovations, the outdoor area of the campus is also upgraded. A water player has already been built, and a large awning creates shadows in summer. The garden is expected to be completed next spring and the construction of a device shell is already planned.
The total costs for the renovation measures amount to around 100,000 euros. The special needs of the residents are particularly important, in particular space acoustics play a central role. In order to disturb the everyday life of the residents as little as possible, the renovation takes place in stages, starting with the right part of the living area.
In December, the long -time employees Stephan Hertle and Jörg Seibt started a part -time training as a pedagogical employee in parallel to these renovation measures. This further training, which will take 18 months, takes place at the Bavarian Business (BBW) gGmbH education center in Augsburg and is financed by the Autism Department with the support of the Federal Employment Agency. Both employees work as a curative education care assistant in the Autism department. Jörg Seibt, who has had a diverse professional career, plans to become assistant to a resident after further training. Stephan Hertle, who also brings extensive experience, including in the Wichernhaus of the Rummelsberger Diakonie in Altdorf, successfully completed the helper training.
The further training includes various topics such as methodological approaches, medical foundations, curative education, habitat design and case management. The lessons take place on Friday evening and Saturday. Marina Lang, area manager in the residential offer in Hersbruck, emphasizes the importance of promoting qualified employees in times of the shortage of skilled workers and emphasizes that the Autism Department of Rummelsberger Diakonie takes innovative ways to create long -term perspectives for the employees.
