Friedrichshafen mourns the loss of Erika Lohner: a life for art

Erika Lohner, an outstanding personality in the cultural landscape of Friedrichshafen, died on December 4th. The city administration of Friedrichshafen confirmed the loss and Mayor Simon Blümcke appreciated Lohner for her commitment in the region. Lohner, who had lived in Friedrichshafen since 1957, headed the Galerie Platform 3/3 for over 17 years. This gallery, which was initially located in the Fallenbrunnen and later in the Kulturhaus Caserne, offered a platform in particular and helped them to become known across the city borders.

In 2017, Lohner received the letter of honor of the city of Friedrichshafen. The award was presented to her by the then Mayor Andreas Brand. In his speech, Blümcke emphasized the mixture of self -confidence, selflessness and modesty, which was awarded wages. In addition to the organization of art projects, Lohner also found time to discover and express their own art, especially after moving out of their sons. Your pictures are known for your powerful expression.

engagement in the art scene

Erika Lohner led the Galerie Platform 3/3 since its foundation and monitored up to 15 exhibitions per year in the early years. However, this intensive work did not turn out to be durable in the long run, so that she had to adjust her activities. In addition to organizing the exhibitions, their committed work also included visits to the artists' studios and advertising for them. It was Lohner's initiative that led to the renovation of the room belonging to the Kulturhaus Caserne. After leaving, she expressed concerns about the future of the platform, which will continue by the Kulturhaus Caserne gGmbH from 2019.

Lohner also planned to help art lessons at the Tannenhag School. Her own painting has developed over the years and is now showing luminous vertebrae, whereby humans are often only present as a contour. The city of Friedrichshafen speaks their condolences to the family of Erika Lohner and at the same time recognizes their life's work and their deep influence on the local art scene.
