Roofers in the Wartburg district: Löhne increases by 3.8 percent!

Wartburgkreis, Deutschland - Wartburgkreis: A leap for wages for roofers! From this month, the craftsmen in the region can look forward to a whopping their salaries. The wages in the roofer trade increase by an impressive 3.8 percent! For a journeyman, this means around 135 euros more in your pocket at the end of the month. A total of around 130 employees work in 24 roofing companies in the Wartburg district, and IG Bau Thuringia has announced this positive news.

But that's just the beginning! Further wage increases are already being planned for the autumn of the coming and next year. "The climbing of wages for the jobs on the roofs in the Wartburg district is thus secured for three years: The bottom line is that roofers have the firm perspective on a wage plus of around 10 percent," explains Ralf Eckardt from IG Bau. This increase is a real profit for those who work in the roofing guild and are a member of the union.

hard job, high responsibility

Ralf Eckardt emphasizes that the work on the roofs is anything but simple: “Whether windy, wet, cold or brooding hot-working on the roof is difficult. And the job is not without risk: roofers have to be careful not to take a wrong step. They already earned the wage plus.” The IG Bau has also campaigned for a higher training allowance. Trainees in the roofing trade are now starting at 1,000 euros per month, and in the third year of training there is already 1,460 euros. After the apprenticeship, even a 13th monthly income will be waved! This will finally be the last east-west difference in the collective bargaining in the roofer trade.
