30 years of EU: Austria's parliament in the change in legislation!
The Austrian Parliament looks back on "30 years of EU accession" and highlights its role and participation rights in EU legislation in detail. According to the parliamentary correspondence , comprehensive information is provided from the EU database, which includes more than 950,000 documents, and the MPs and Federal Council to inform ADECATELY about EU projects. These documents are a crucial tool for parliamentary work and offer transparency about European initiatives. The government members are obliged in accordance with the EU information law to always inform Parliament about ongoing legislative procedures.
An important organ in this context is the so -called “Fire Brigade Committee”, which is regulated in the §31e of the National Council's Procedure Act. So far, it has been convened seven times if the need for decision -making during ongoing negotiations in Brussels quickly existed. For example, the committee was launched in front of an EU summit in December 2004 when it came to the controversial accession negotiations with Turkey. However, the fire brigade committee cannot hold any recommendations and resolutions, rather it serves faster communication between the government and parliament.
Important steps of the EU's main committee
The EU main committee has broadcast extensive tasks by treating fundamental issues of the EU, such as planned changes to the EU contracts. Member of the main committee can also delegate certain topics to the constant EU subcommittee, which was made possible in a amendment to the rules of procedure in 2015. This regulation aims to increase the efficiency and relevance of the work of parliament in relation to EU matters. In the active treatment of EU projects , the dialogue between specialist committees and government members is also promoted, especially when it comes to negotiations on EU projects.
