Scandal at universities: Auditors' Court reveals the dark side of the secondary jobs!

The round of secondary activities at universities becomes visible! The focus is on controversial cases - including that of Rummel, Managing Director of HNE Rights GmbH, which holds 87.5 percent of the shares. The "Upper Austrian News" report that, according to the university statute, Rummel should have obtained approval for secondary jobs, but did not do so. While he disclosed the company in his application documents, Governor Stelzer's office made it clear that his information corresponds to the truth and that there were no additional income. The explosive question remains: why didn't he report this beforehand?

auditors call for more transparency

Especially now when the Court of Auditors in its current report raises the alarm! The RH criticizes the incomplete report of the secondary employment of university professors. In an informative comparison between the University of Vienna and the University of Innsbruck, it becomes clear: Despite twice as many professors in Vienna, there were only half as many reports on the secondary job. While there is a clear openness in Innsbruck, the University of Vienna is a real dark room for the information that the Court of Auditors states!
In addition, the RH calls for a public register based on Switzerland in order to create more precise transparency about these business. The previous practice, in which the doctors maintained an 80 percent job abroad in one case, has the potential for considerable abuse, which has led to a tangible crisis in Vienna.

The report of secondary employment seems to be a dazzling but difficult to be subject at universities. There is a lack of clear regulations - the question of the "essential official interests" remains in the room without being able to reach an agreement. The Court of Auditors is now demanding that all professors are reminded of their duties to prevent non -compliance. This is the wake -up call for the universities! According to RH, the implementation of precise guidelines could not only give the country legal security, but also lead to a real added value that would be of great benefit to the universities.
