A shocking attack on SPD election campaigners took place in Berlin-Lichterfelde when suspected right-wing extremists injured three people at an information stand. The perpetrators, all young people between the ages of 16 and 19, were caught on their way to a right-wing extremist march. Police arrested four suspects and issued arrest warrants, with three of them remanded in custody. A 19-year-old was released on conditions. The incident occurred at a bus stop when the attackers insulted and then physically attacked SPD members. During the attack, the poll workers were thrown to the ground and brutally kicked with combat boots. The use of force did not stop at the police officers; one of the police officers suffered a fractured hand, while another was injured in the face by a piece of glass. All of the injured had to be taken to hospital, but were released after outpatient treatment. Chancellor Olaf Scholz pointed out that such acts of violence pose a danger to all democrats, as Tagesschau reported.
