Exhibitionist flees after confrontation in Salzburg – clues sought!

On the night of November 1, 2025, a worrying incident occurred near the Glan Bridge on Grete-Bitter-Straße at around 11:50 p.m. A woman reported that she was being followed by an unknown man. She then alerted her husband, who immediately rushed to her side. During their meeting, the suspect fled so that the husband could not confront him, as Klick Kärnten reports.

The police investigation that then began revealed that the man was carrying out an exhibitionist act in a public space. Exhibitionistic acts, as defined in Section 183 of the Criminal Code (StGB), include showing the exposed male genital organ without the consent of another person. Such a report can lead to a prison sentence of up to one year or a fine, depending on the seriousness of the offense and the consequences for those affected, according to HT Criminal Law.

Description of the suspect

The police have published a description of the perpetrator and are asking the public for information. The suspect is described as follows:

  • Alter: zwischen 20 und 30 Jahren
  • Größe: etwa 170 bis 185 Zentimeter
  • Statur: normal
  • Haare: kurz und hell
  • Bekleidung: helle Sneakers mit Plateau-Sohle, dunkle Jogginghose, dünne dunkle Steppjacke mit einem weiß-blauen Streifen im Brustbereich.

Legal basis

According to Lawyer Exhibitionistic Acts, the Criminal Code deals with two different sections: Section 183 for exhibitionistic acts and Section 183a, which deals with causing public nuisance. In the exhibitionistic act, the perpetrator must ensure that the victim feels displeasure or disgust, which could be the case in this case.

In contrast, Section 183a is aimed at public harassment through sexual acts where the act must be perceived by a larger group of people. This also places the protection of public morals and order in the foreground.

Exhibitionism is often accompanied by an inner compulsion or a psychological disorder, which in many cases poses a risk of relapse. The criminal investigation and the possible legal consequences are therefore of great importance for the victims and perpetrators alike. In any case, it is advisable to seek legal advice at an early stage from a lawyer who specializes in sexual crime law, as recommended in the HT Criminal Law source.
