Brutal attack on the kebab distance: 28-year-old seriously injured!

In the early morning of June 16, 2025, four men seriously injured a 28-year-old man in Vienna. As reported [exxpress.at] (https://exxpress.at/news/foriten-28-jaehriger-nach- afternoon-to-adke-distance-schwer-wehren/), the victim, which was stuck in the event of a kebab, was beaten without warning and then continued to be attacked. The brutal approach caused the attention of a witness who informed the police at 5.15 a.m. and thus prevented the escape of a suspect.

The police could intervene quickly and arrested one of the attackers. This is a 19-year-old Austrian, who, however, was displayed again after the preliminary arrest. He denied his participation in the attack and had no information about the other suspects. The investigation was recorded by the Vienna State Criminal Police Office, South branch, to clarify the motif behind the attack. The victim was cared for by the Vienna career rescue on site and taken to a hospital with head injuries.

Investigations and security situation

After the incident, an immediate search was initiated after the other suspects, which, however, was unsuccessful. In view of the increasing potential for violence in urban areas, the incident is particularly alarming. The police crime statistics have shown a slight increase in overall crime, especially in violence crime, which rose by 1 % to 86.205, as shown in the report of the BMI

The statistics also show that predatory offenses have increased by 10.9 % and property crime has increased by 2 % to 165,420 cases. Perhaps surprising at first glance, but it is important that the educational rate has increased to 52.9 %. This indicates that the authorities are able to process crimes more effectively.

The influence of youth crime

The increase in youth crime is particularly striking. This rose to 47,701 offenses, although the proportion of non-Austrian citizens in 48.2 % in the age group of 10 to 14 year olds is remarkably high. This is a trend that significantly influences the security situation in the cities. The increase in the age group of 14 to 18 year olds even comprises 39.8 % foreign suspects.

The dynamics of violent crime and youth crime, coupled with the challenges of the security forces, clearly illustrates the need for preventive measures and the intensive observation of potential for violence in urban zones. At a time when the security of the citizens seems to be increasingly at risk, the investigation into the attack at the kebab distance and the search for further suspect top priority of the Viennese state police remain.
