Let's create an Advent meal together: food donations in Floridsdorf

An important initiative to support people in need is starting in Vienna-Floridsdorf. The project, organized by “Robin Hood’s Arche”, calls for donations of non-perishable food to enable an Advent meal for the needy and homeless. Organizers emphasize that even small donations can have a big impact on people's lives.

The Mission Advent fundraising appeal calls for donations of non-perishable goods such as rice, pasta and tin cans. In particular, bean soups, chili con carne, goulash and various canned fruits and vegetables are urgently needed. These foods are onSaturday, November 16, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.mcollected at Kleinhausgasse 21, in the pedestrian zone.

Why every donation counts

The call for food donations is aimed at all citizens who are able to help. The organizers of “Robin Hood’s Arche” draw attention to the numerous people who live under difficult conditions in Austria. “Every donation, no matter how small, is welcome,” says Robin, the spokesman for the initiative. A contribution of just 1 kilogram of rice, which costs around 1.50 euros, can already be considered part of the collection project.

The organizers attach particular importance to ensuring that the donated food has a shelf life, ideally until the end of 2024. Expired or opened goods and alcohol are not permitted. This clear regulation ensures that food distribution runs smoothly and responsibly so that those in need also benefit.

In addition, every donor will be rewarded with an artistically designed New Year's lucky charm, which can serve as a small gift for friends or relatives. The initiative is strengthened not only by the food collected, but also by the community and its cohesion.

On the occasion of the “World Day of the Poor”, which was launched by Pope Francis in 2017, the event takes on additional scope and significance. Organizers warmly invite everyone to come along and be part of this valuable lesson in charity. If you make a donation you will also receive free mulled wine while stocks last. This invitation represents an opportunity to get involved and share the happiness with others in the coming year.
