Together for the cohesion: huge puzzle in front of the Karlskirche

On October 4th, a special event will take place at Karlsplatz in Vienna to strengthen solidarity in society. Under the motto of the "long day of flight", the UNHCR (High Commissioner of the United Nations for Refugees) and Caritas will build an impressive, three -dimensional puzzle. This should symbolically stand for the cohesion between people with and without a history of migration.

This day has been used since 2012 to put topics such as flight, asylum and integration into public awareness. This year, October 4th offers the opportunity to actively participate in various events, exhibitions and workshops across the country. At Karlsplatz, the campaign begins at 10 a.m., where volunteers, school classes and refugees will work together to combine the parts of the large puzzle. The artist duha samir will lead the project and has put the idea into practice.

creativity for a good cause

The puzzle consists of a total of 48 parts that were previously created by people who live in Caritas facilities or are looked after by Caritas. This individual design of the puzzle pieces is a creative expression of the participants and illustrates the variety of stories behind every person. On -site visitors will have the opportunity to not only watch, but also to donate actively to support the commitment of this initiative.

If the weather does not play along, there is a plan B: In heavy rain, the event will be moved to the auditorium of the Academy of Fine Arts at Schillerplatz 3 in the 1st district.
