Deadly attacks in the Gaza Strip: Aid supplies distributed despite chaos!

In the Gaza Strip, the situation has spoiled again after numerous people died in the event of a new incident near a distribution point for humanitarian aid goods. According to Palestinian information, more than 28 people were killed by shots by the Israeli army, while in Khan Younis ten other people were also victims of Israeli attacks. These exhaustion of violence occurred on June 11, 2025, on the same day when the Gaza Humanitrian Foundation (GHF) reported a successful distribution of relief goods.

The Israeli army initially did not comment on the incidents, but it stated that it had given warning shots towards "suspicious" people in order to keep them at a distance. On Tuesday, June 10, 17 people already died at a GHF aid station in Rafah, which further tightened the already tense situation. Despite these incidents, the GHF explained that the distribution of the relief supplies on Wednesday was without incidents.

Humanitarian aid and security issues

The GHF has started the distribution of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian population in recent weeks. To date, the organization has issued around 16 million meals to the needy. The relief supplies become the Gaza project via the Kerem Shalom border crossing, with more than 100 trucks with food and other goods from the United Nations holdings and the international community in the Gaza Strip.

The GHF is particularly sensitized for the safety of deliveries. The foundation first distributed directly to Palestinians by carrying these measures outside the regular distribution centers to relieve them. Around 20 trucks were used for this delivery, with Palestinian helpers actively involved. Nevertheless, there are always reports on shots near the GHF distribution centers, which leads to uncertainty and chaos. One reports on five other deaths near two such centers, while Israel refers to these incidents as warning shots.

criticism of the distribution

The GHF is not without controversy. Critics warn that Hamas' humanitarian aid could benefit. To prevent this appropriation, the GHF was set up as an alternative distribution structure. In addition, the majority of the GHF distribution centers are located in areas where media have no access, which makes it difficult to review information on victims and the change of shooting. The Israeli army has emphasized several times that no civilians should be hit in all attacks, but this is repeatedly questioned by reports of fatalities in the civilian population.

In this tense situation, the military commander of Hamas, Mohammed al-Sinwar, was also identified. His body was found in a tunnel under the European hospital in Khan Younis. Al-Sinwar was killed on May 13th during an Israeli air raid, which further tightened the tensions in the Gaza conflict.

The continued intensification between Israel and Hamas cause many international reactions. The Tagesschau of the devastating effects of the conflict on the civilian population in the Gaza Strip, which now houses over 2.3 million people. The chronic clashes between Israel and the Palestinians have a long history that goes back to the early 2000s, as in explained.

The current situation illustrates the urgent need for humanitarian aid in a region that is characterized by conflicts and violence. According to the UN, at least 500 to 600 truck loads would be necessary every day to meet the increased need, which makes the challenge for humanitarian organizations even more complicated.
