District Youth Day 2024: Bach and Strengen celebrated as big winners

In the last few days, this year's district youth days took place in the Reutte and Landeck regions, which were both rich in tradition and full of energy and enthusiasm. These events are an integral part of social life in the two districts and bring together many young people who are involved in agriculture and rural areas.

Both district youth days began with a holy mass celebrated by various priests. In Reutte, Pastor Dr. Otto Walch led the ceremony, while in Landeck, Pastor Mag. Willi Pfurtscheller had his finger on the pulse of events. These spiritual moments offer participants the opportunity to pause and reflect together before the celebration continues in full swing.

Most active local group awarded

A highlight of the celebrations was the award to the most active local group. In Reutte, the Bach Young Farmers' Association/Rural Youth received the coveted winner's flag for their numerous activities and commitment in 2024. The jury evaluated the local groups based on their minute books. JB/LJ Schattwald came in third, followed by JB/LJ Elbigenalp in second place. The great commitment and creative actions of the Bach group allowed them to celebrate first place.

Similarly, the JB/LJ Strengen in Landeck demonstrated their outstanding commitment and was named the most active local group, just ahead of the other strong groups from See and Kaunertal. Such honors encourage members to remain active and keep their local groups together.

The creative element came in the form of a play performed at the opening ceremony. It underlined the commitment of heart and brain - a motto that motivates and inspires the boards and members. It is a cornerstone of commitment in young farmers.

Together for social purposes

Another impressive aspect of the district youth days was the “AnBacken” project, in which numerous local groups baked rolls and bread. This not only contributed to community building, but also ensured that 2,000 euros were donated to the social account of the JB/LJ Reutte district. The Reutte Tourism Association also made a donation of 1,700 euros as part of a farm roas, which further underlines the social commitment.

The flag-waving show by the Strengen Group in Landeck also gave the event a festive character. It shows how important traditions are and how they can be adapted to modern times. “Amea & Heint” was the motto in Landeck, which illustrated the solidarity between the generations of young farmers.

The district youth days were rounded off with a district ball, at which the JB/LJ Lechtal area opened the dancing fun and the band “Zunder”, known far beyond the region, created the perfect atmosphere. The dance floor was packed late into the night, showing how important community and celebration is for youth in rural areas. These celebratory occasions not only promote togetherness, but also strengthen the social fabric of the groups involved.

The fun and joy of these days, which are much more than just festivities, was evident throughout the district. They strengthen cohesion and identity at a time when rural communities are facing challenges. The district's annual events are a sign of young people's commitment to agriculture and society.
