Traditional Tyrolean businesses celebrate 30 years: thanks for consistency and performance
On Friday evening, a special honor took place at Congress Igls for 22 Tyrolean companies that are celebrating significant company anniversaries this year. State Councilor for Economic Affairs Mario Gerber praised the long-standing loyalty and commitment of the companies that have served the Tyrolean economy for at least 30 years. This honor illustrates the value that the state government places on traditional companies that make a significant contribution to economic stability and development in the region.
The most impressive anniversaries were Mitterdorfer Fahrzeugbau GmbH from Nußdorf-Debant with a proud operating history of 370 years, also known as the “oldest” of the honored companies, the Hotel Café Central GmbH in Innsbruck, which has been welcoming guests for 140 years, and Holzmanufaktur und Vitrinenbau Auer GmbH, which looks back on a 130-year history. These companies have not only created jobs but also played an important role in training young people.
The oldest award-winning companies
Mitterdorfer Fahrzeugbau GmbH
The company Mitterdorfer Fahrzeugbau GmbH started its journey in 1654 with the opening of a hammer forge. This traditional business, which has been run by the Rotschopf family for generations, has continued to develop over the years. In the middle of the 20th century, the company had to adapt due to industrialization and changes in agriculture. In 1956, this led to a conversion and a realignment towards vehicle production, which today represents the company's core competency. The company currently employs nine people, including three apprentices, and specializes in special structures for waste management.
Hotel Café Central GmbH
The Hotel Café Central in Innsbruck is known as a place for conviviality and is also a respected four-star hotel that has attracted numerous guests over its 140-year existence. With a clear focus on environmental awareness, the hotel is a member of the Tyrol Climate Alliance and is proud of several environmental awards, including the “Austrian Ecolabel Green Hotel” and the “EU Eco Label”. In addition, Café Central has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2014, which underlines the cultural importance of the company. It currently employs 30 people and offers a mix of tradition and modern service standards.
Wood manufacturer and showcase construction Auer GmbH
Founded in Steinach am Brenner in 1894, the Auer wood manufacturer developed over decades from a joinery shop to a respected furniture maker. After the move to Innsbruck into the new operating premises in 1958 by Heinrich Auer Sr. the company has continued to invest in quality and modernization. Today it is run by Thomas Auer and specializes in high-quality interior design. With currently around 30 employees and two apprentices, the company is heavily involved in training young carpenters.
In summary, Mr. Gerber emphasizes the immense importance of these companies for the Tyrolean economy. “The achievements of these family businesses often remain hidden, but they nevertheless make a significant contribution to the competitiveness and economic prosperity of our country,” he explains, emphasizing how important it is to recognize the special contributions of the companies.
The celebration of the anniversaries not only underlines the respect for the economic achievements of these companies, but also the desire of the state government to establish support for future generations. A sense of tradition seems to be a valuable asset in Tyrol that should continue to be promoted in the future. This honor is a valuable gesture to make the outstanding achievements in Tyrol's history more visible.
