Honoring the farmers' wives: festive harvest thanksgiving celebration in Feistritz Castle

The “Harvest Thanksgiving Celebration” took place in a festive atmosphere on Thursday morning at the Feistritz Castle School of Agriculture and Food. At this event, numerous farmers in the Murau district were honored with the farmer's needle, while farm officials received the bronze chamber medal. Among the guests were important personalities such as LTP Manuela Khom and Chamber President Franz Titschenbacher, who made the event a special occasion.

The celebration began with a Thanksgiving service led by Prior Father Gerwig Romirer. The Steuber family choir from St. Ruprecht ob Murau provided the musical framework. The speeches emphasized the central theme of agriculture: “sowing – growing – harvesting”. This symbolizes the tireless commitment of the farming families throughout the year. Especially in the fall, when harvest time approaches, it is important to show gratitude for the fruits of your labor.

Honors and merits

The honored farmers not only do excellent work on their farms, but are also a mainstay in clubs and in parish life, which makes them role models in today's society. At a time when cohesion seems to be eroding at an inflationary rate, their commitment is even more important. The Farmer's Wife Pins were awarded to 13 women whose names are recognized in local communities.
