Massive construction work on the A4 and west route: traffic jams and diversions threaten!
Incoming road and rail work currently shape the traffic situation in Austria and the effects are noticeable. According to noe.orf.at , a new traffic routing will be set up on the A2 motorway between Wiener Neustadt and Graz. This so -called five plus one regulation means that two lanes are temporarily moved to the road to Vienna in the direction of Graz. One trace is preserved for the trip to Graz, which results in a narrowing of the six traces. This year the renovation work focuses on the road to Graz; Work on the road towards Vienna is planned for the coming year. In addition, eleven bridges along the route are renovated, as well as the necessary protective devices and electronic systems.
In parallel, informed oebb.at about comprehensive renovation measures in train traffic. From May 12th to June 5th, part of the outer western route will be closed again to reduce provisionals that were necessary after flood installations. During this time, long -distance trains have to be redirected, which is associated with an additional extension of travel time of around 30 minutes. In addition, there will be a replacement traffic on the northwest railway between Stockerau and Absdorf-Hippersdorf until March 31, and also in the section from Göpfritz to Česke Velenice, rail traffic will be exposed from March 29 to April 22nd.
The ambitious renovation projects in both street and rail traffic are crucial to improve the infrastructure for future traffic. While drivers have to adjust to temporary restrictions, train passengers are also faced with longer travel times. The focus on the restoration and modernization of the transport networks is the basis for safe and efficient mobility in the coming years. These measures are part of the extensive maintenance plan of ASFINAG and the ÖBB, which aims at increasing traffic safety and modernizing the existing infrastructure.
