The Dobl kindergarten has created more space for children through an extension without sealing additional flooring. The expansion enables the care of around 100 children.
Kindergarten Dobl: Rapid expansion for more space and better care
A new kindergarten was opened in the heart of Dobl-Zwaring, which was not only built in a very short time, but also takes environmentally friendly aspects into account. The expansion, which was unanimously approved by the local council in April 2024, began in June and was put into operation at the beginning of September, just in time for the new kindergarten year.
The expansion includes an additional floor on the existing building, creating space for two new kindergarten groups. A total of four groups and a new crèche can now be accommodated on the ground floor. Mayor Waltraud Walch thanked the companies involved and the 13 employees who actively helped during the construction period and were involved in the planning. “We are now secured for the coming years and can look after around 100 children in Dobl,” says Walch.
Eco-friendly construction and equipment
An important feature of the new building is that no additional floor was sealed as a result of the planned extension. This helps to avoid wasting space. In addition, the collaboration with a neighboring care facility was highlighted, which enriches both institutions and enables joint projects.
A total of almost one million euros was invested in the expansion of the kindergarten, partly financed by the state. The new facility is heated by a local heating system, while 70 percent of the electricity requirements are covered by the photovoltaic system installed on the roof. Extensive work was also carried out on the exterior, including a complete renovation of the facade and fence system of the existing building.
