Planning for a new indoor swimming pool in Seekirchen: Construction could begin in 2025
The project for a new indoor swimming pool in Seekirchen is taking shape. The preparations could soon be put into action as the state government and twelve participating municipalities have reached an agreement on financing. Construction could begin in about a year, setting the region up for an exciting new development.
An investment volume of over 22 million euros is planned for the indoor swimming pool. Construction could begin at the end of 2025 and a general planner from Germany is expected to be responsible for the design of the swimming pool. “It will be a simple swimming pool that offers space for a three-meter tower,” explains Simon Wallner, mayor of Obertrum and chairman of the swimming pool company. The exact detailed planning will be presented at a later date.
Financing details
The financing of the indoor swimming pool is provided by various municipalities. 70 percent of the costs are covered by the municipal compensation fund, which is financed through tax revenue. The eleven municipalities, which also include Berndorf, Eugendorf and Straßwalchen, have to raise the remaining 30 percent from their own resources. This represents a joint effort by the region to meet the needs of the population.
An important step in the construction process is the search for an operator for the swimming pool, which should take place throughout Europe. Mayor Wallner emphasizes that they strive to keep operating costs low and that negative income could be avoided with a suitable operator. Once construction work is completed, which is expected to take around two years, the pool could now become a welcoming place for both active swimmers and recreational users.
The decision to build an indoor swimming pool in Seekirchen underlines the communities' commitment to improving infrastructure and recreational opportunities in the region. The coming months will be crucial to complete the planning and take the necessary steps to start construction.
