Art and culture until midnight: Salzburg museums delight 22,800 visitors

A night-time tour through the exciting world of museums – this is what the “Long Night of the Museums” makes possible. On Saturday, October 6th, over 22,800 people flocked to the exhibitions in the city of Salzburg. This impressive number shows the keen interest of visitors in art and culture, which could be experienced in 46 museums and galleries until midnight.

The 24th edition of this popular event was not only well received by the general public, the newly opened Police Museum was also part of the event for the first time and attracted the curiosity of many people. There, visitors could marvel at old uniforms and equipment. Reactions to this location have been consistently positive, underlining the importance of such cultural events.

Popular contact points for art lovers

The Hohensalzburg Fortress, the Museum of Modernism and the House of Nature were particularly popular among visitors. These cultural highlights not only offer exciting exhibitions, but also a picturesque backdrop that invites you to linger. The opportunity to stroll through the museum rooms late at night creates a very special atmosphere that appeals to many people.

Around 308,000 visitors across Austria took part in the Long Night of Museums. However, this was a decrease of about 40,000 compared to the previous year. What is particularly striking is that Vienna once again attracted the most people with around 151,500 visits, followed by Salzburg. Despite the smaller numbers, such events are crucial to promoting art and culture and show that there is a sustained desire for such experiences.
