Autumn weather in Salzburg: sun and fog with mild temperatures
In the beautiful state of Salzburg, the weather remains mostly friendly at the end of October. According to the weather experts from Geosphere Austria, Tuesday starts with fog and high fog in many places in the lowlands. This means that the sky can sometimes be covered in dense cloud cover, but away from these foggy areas and in the mountainous areas it is brilliantly sunny. As the day progresses, the fog fields will gradually clear up and the sun will shine through, accompanied by a few cumulus clouds. Even local showers are possible in the mountains. The wind remains rather light and the early temperatures are between three and ten degrees. The more the sun shines, the warmer it gets in the afternoon, with highs of 13 to 19 degrees.
On Wednesday there will again be some high fog fields over the basins and lowlands, which may temporarily limit visibility. These high fog-like clouds lie between 800 and 1,500 meters above sea level. But from midday it looks as if the sun will gain the upper hand. Even if the sun brings good weather early in some places, the wind remains weak, often moving between south and northwest. The early morning temperatures range between one and eleven degrees, while the midday values can rise to 11 to 18 degrees.
Sun prevails over fog
Thursday brings with it a new weather situation, as old, high fog-like clouds move over the northeast and east of Austria, where they only temporarily clear up, most likely in the afternoon. In the lowlands and valleys, some areas of ground and high fog stubbornly fight against the sun, which usually comes through around midday. In the southeast, fog may even remain throughout the day. In the mountains and generally in the west, however, the sun shines from early to late. The wind continues to blow weakly, sometimes moderately, and temperatures in the early morning hours range from two to twelve degrees. Temperatures of eleven to 18 degrees are expected in the afternoon.
The regional fog fields over the basins will mostly dissipate by Friday morning. Then there will be lots of sunshine and the wind will be light again, but this time from the southwest to northwest. The minimum temperatures are pleasant and lie between zero and ten degrees, while the daily highs fluctuate between twelve and 19 degrees.
