In a touching letter Bruckner asked shortly before his death to be able to experience his own trade fair again: " The Bruckner gets old and would like to hear the F minor (trade fair). Please, please! That would be the highlight of my life! "
The performance in Mauthausen took place in a full church hall. The choir, consisting of 50 members, and an orchestra with 31 musicians and four talented soloists from the Vienna State Opera Choir, contributed to an unforgettable atmosphere. The concert goers were enthusiastic and experienced the fair in all its splendor and dimension.
Anyone who missed the first performance will receive another opportunity to hear this impressive work on Friday, November 22, 2024, at 7 p.m. The renewed performance in the parish church promises to become as unforgettable.
