Debattierclub an der HAK YBBS: Students shape opinions active
On October 11, 2024, the students of the 2BK of the HAK YBBS for Digital Business together with their professors, Maria Planckh and Barbara Mittmasser visited a debate club under the motto "Mix up". This event offered the learners a valuable opportunity to improve their rhetorical skills and to actively participate in social discourses.
The debate club represents a platform on which the participants not only exchange arguments, but also learn to represent their points of view clearly and precisely. With this experience, the students pursue the goal of sharpening their opinion formation and presentation skills. Due to the practical implementation, you can acquire valuable skills for your future in professional life.
experiences and learning content
During the debate club meeting, the students dealt with various current topics that not only demanded their opinion, but were also critically discussed. Not only the exchange of opinions was in the foreground, but also the respectful way of dealing with each other, which is particularly important today.
This type of discussion enables young people not only to question their own perspectives, but also to understand the arguments of others. Through the discussions, you learn how to argue effectively and also defend your own position against resistance.
Participation in a debate club represents a significant addition to everyday school life. It promotes not only communication skills, but also critical thinking and teamwork. Professors such as Maria Planckh and Barbara Mittmasser strive to give their students these important skills in order to prepare them for the challenges of the future.
For many students, experience was an eye opening. They realized that it is not just about winning a debate, but also about listening to specifically and taking into account various perspectives. This will certainly also affect your view of discussions in everyday life and encourage you to express your opinions.
As already mentioned, the exercise of such skills is crucial for personal and professional development. The event therefore provided not only educational content, but also valuable life lessons that the students will accompany on their way.
