25 years of hospice milk: a festival of life in the Melk Abbey

A special event was celebrated on October 3, 2024 in the heart of Melk: The Hospiz Melk association committed its 25th anniversary in the magnificent baroque cellar of the Melk Abbey. Numerous companions and supporters, including political representatives of the country and the district, came to appreciate this significant day. Already at the champagne reception in the prelate courtyard, the festive atmosphere was noticeable, accompanied by the sounds of the Stadtkapelle Melk, while many well -known faces from the region came together.

The ceremony itself was musically framed by the Irish folk group Gerlach. During the celebrations, founders and those responsible for the association had the opportunity to look back on the past 25 years. The strength of the association becomes particularly clear through the close cooperation between volunteers and full -time employees. This good teamwork made it possible to put a lot of visions into practice, even if there are many new challenges in the field of palliative care.

appreciation and awards

As part of the event, the member of the state parliament presented Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister, who represented Governor Mikl Leitner, presented a certificate as a sign of recognition for the merits of the association over the past 25 years. Mayor Patrick Strobl also joined the congratulations and paid tribute to the valuable work that is done here.

Another highlight of the festival was the appearance of Ursula Strauß, who read from her book and a work by Christine Nöstlinger. Strauss supported the club in its early years and thus brought a nostalgic touch to the celebrations. Rosemarie Lechner and Leopoldine Lechner were also awarded for their many years of voluntary work, a special honor that illustrates the importance of the volunteer in the club.

The guests were then able to look forward to a delicious buffet, which was prepared by Viktoria Sdrule and the kitchen of the Melk nursing and care center. With such a ceremony, the association not only wants to look back on the achievement, but also give a view of future events.

In the anniversary year, various projects are still planned. On October 11, 2024, an information fair will take place under the title "Palliative offers in the Melk district", which is aimed at affected and caring relatives. On October 15, 2024, there will be a children's mithmach theater in the Melk carpentry on October 15, 2024. In addition, Anja Schwediau's book presentation, whose revenues will benefit the association, will not be missing. The celebration year will be rounded off with a mourning area from October 31 to November 2, 2024.
