40 years of friendship: anniversary meeting of the HAK-KREMS in Fels

In the world of schools, not only knowledge and skills are conveyed, but also lifelong friendships are forged. This once again became clear at the 40-year Matura meeting of the HAK-KREMS, which took place on October 25, 2024 in the picturesque Fels Castle on the Wagram. The participants who met 45 years ago and passed their matriculation examination 40 years ago gathered to refresh old memories and celebrate the importance of their friendships.

During the meeting, many alumni had the opportunity to exchange ideas about their ways of life and share their successes. Among the guests was also a former school colleague who, despite his paraplegia, made an impressive career due to a tumor in the spinal cord and spoke about his biography "How does cow shit on the roof". This shows how much the school attendance not only gives knowledge, but also compounds that can last for a lifetime.

an important meeting

One of the participants, Leo Baumberger, who works in St. Oswald as NÖM-milk builder and community secretary, used this time to draw attention to a current topic: the failed negotiations between NÖM and Spar, which led to a delivery freezer. He emphasized the need for a fair remuneration for mountain farmer's milk, especially in the context of increasing demands on animal welfare.

After the productive exchange, the conversations were accompanied by a delicious buffet and exquisite wine, which comes from the Fels Castle and is now available beyond the borders of Austria in savings shops. So the group not only experienced a time of memory, but also of enjoyment.

The former estimated the opportunity to revive their friendships again. In particular, the connection that has grown over five years at the Federal Trade Academy and in the boarding school appears in the many stories. Klaus Wandl, Leo Baumberger and Franz Kramer are just a few of the former students who connect two generations and whose paths crossed in school.

Another part of the evening was enriched by Thomas Stieger, a bank employee and active red cross, who with his experiences captivated many listeners and encouraged them for discussion. These sociable hours not only awakened memories of a past time, but also strengthened the basis for future meetings and maintaining friendships. Imagine how many beautiful memories come alive in such gatherings and how important they are for the community.

The anticipation for the next meeting is already great and the agreement to see yourself in five years is certain. Such occasions once again show that school friendships are not only a phase of life, but also create valuable connections that accompany you throughout life.
