Government formation in the Gmünd district: ÖVP relies on Waldviertel-Plan

In the political landscape of the Gmünd district, an exciting chapter announces, since the National Council elections are imminent. A clear starting position is shown because both the Freedom Party (FPÖ) and the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) initially focus on the Federal President. The latter has the task of placing the commissioned candidate for the formation of government. In contrast, the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ) is aiming for cooperation with the ÖVP and smaller parties.

A central player in this situation is Martina Diesner-Wais from the ÖVP, who will take her notice of office as a member of the National Council on October 24th. This appointment marks your fourth legislative period in the National Council. Before that, she had been active in the National Council since 2013 after she had a ten -year career in the Federal Council.

Matina Diesner-Wais ’expectations

Regardless of the developing coalition issues, Diesner-Wais plans to concentrate on the occupation of the parliamentary committees. It is their endeavor that the ÖVP representatives from the Waldviertel can fill all essential committees. Diesner-Wais was previously active in various committees, including the environment and health, and expresses the desire to continue to work in these areas.

Another important concern is the "Waldviertel plan", which is based on suggestions from the discussions before the election. According to Diesner-Wais, these suggestions include both nationwide and other regional issues that are also relevant for other areas in Austria.

The upcoming municipal elections

Not only does Diesner-Wais look at the National Council election, but also at the upcoming local council elections in January. In her role as district party leader of the ÖVP, she is convinced that this election is determined by local factors, and not decisively by the national trend. The ÖVP is currently strongly represented in 15 out of 21 municipalities, which indicates an influence of local politics and services.

Diesner-Wais is active in her position as a member of the deputy, Vice President of the aid organization Lower Austria and in her function as a councilor in Schrems and would like to continue to stand up for the concerns of her region. Her extensive experience and networking in politics enable her to advance specific topics for the Gmünd district and to achieve their goals in the upcoming legislative period.

How the further development of the political landscape in the district will be shaped. Above all, the base of the votes and the specific measures of the individual politicians could be crucial for how the voters will decide in the upcoming elections.
