SKN St. Pölten is reeling: third defeat in a row against FAC!

SKN St. Pölten suffered another defeat in the 12th round of the 2nd league. In the duel against FAC, the team had to admit defeat 0-2. According to vienna.at this is the third competitive defeat in a row for St. Pölten. Previously, the team was extremely successful in its first ten league rounds, with 9 wins and 1 draw.

The last defeat dates back to the previous week, when St. Pölten lost 1:3 against FC Liefering. In addition, the team was eliminated from the competition 0-1 in the cup round of 16 against Rapid. The goals for the FAC came from Marcus Maier in the 22nd minute and Evan Eghose Aisowieren in the 39th minute, which temporarily climbed the FAC to third place in the table.

Poor performance despite change

SKN coach Cem Sekerlioglu reacted to the ongoing crisis and made four substitutions before half-time. Despite this measure, the offense remained weak and the team failed to score any goals. The next game is already around the corner: St. Pölten will face Admira in a direct duel in the southern part of the city on Friday, where a win is urgently needed.

In other league games, the victory of SKU Amstetten stands out, winning 3-2 against Vienna in an exciting game. Amstetten has now been unbeaten in nine league games and has temporarily improved to 4th place. Alieu Conateh gave Amstetten the lead in the 13th minute, while Seo Jong-Min scored for Vienna in the 55th and 64th minutes. However, Amstetten was able to turn the game around with goals from Sebastian Wimmer and an own goal.

Latecomer duel between Wels and Bregenz

The clash between Wels and Bregenz resulted in a 1-1 draw. Wels is in 14th place with ten competitive games without a win and is therefore two points behind SV Stripfing. Bregenz, on the other hand, is still waiting for its first league win of the season and is four points behind Wels.

These results shed light on the current situation in the 2nd league, where both St. Pölten and Bregenz are under pressure to improve their performance in order to get out of the lower regions of the table.
