FF Weistrach in continuous operation: five accidents in just 19 hours
In the Weistrach region, five accident rescues were carried out by the Weistrach Volunteer Fire Department (FF) within a period of just 19 hours. This series of traffic accidents put fire department members on multiple alerts and required coordinated action to restore safety on the roads.
The first incident occurred just before midnight on Wednesday. Alerted, the emergency services went to State Road 85, where a driver had lost control of his BMW. After leaving the Weistracher roundabout, the car hit the guardrail and lost its front left tire, which flew about 20 meters into an adjacent field. Fortunately, the young occupants were uninjured, but the vehicle was badly damaged and came to a stop on the road. The FF Weistrach immediately secured the scene of the accident and took care of those affected. Lighting was also set up for the night.
Multiple vehicles involved
The following Thursday at 6:47 p.m. there was another serious traffic accident in which four vehicles were involved near the Anthofer Chapel on the B 122. The exact circumstances of the accident are still unclear, but as reported, three vehicles collided, while the fourth vehicle was able to avoid it and came to a stop in a field. The response team of 23 fire brigade members quickly got to work to ensure safety and secure the scene of the accident.
After emergency services provided medical care to those involved, diversions were set up for the heavy evening traffic. Due to the accident situation, the rescue work had to be carried out quickly in order to enable a return to normality. One vehicle was removed using a farmer's telehandler, while two other vehicles were taken off the road using a fire truck and shunting rollers. The vehicle in the field, however, was pushed onto the road using muscle power and was able to continue its journey.
In just one hour, the road was reopened to traffic after thorough cleaning of vehicle parts and glass splinters as well as the removal of spilled operating materials. The fire brigade's involvement in these two incidents shows the high level of commitment and well-coordinated work of the members, who acted quickly despite the challenges.
The previous events provide impressive evidence of the operational readiness of the FF Weistrach. The continuous training and practice of the fire department members pays off in such critical situations to ensure the safety of citizens in the region.
