Carinthia's libraries: 1,500 multilingual books for all children!

The Chamber of Labor in Carinthia is bringing a breath of fresh air into the world of children's literature! From now on, over 1,500 multilingual books are available in all AK Kärnten libraries in the digital picture and children's book service “Polylino”. This exciting initiative allows children to read and listen to stories not only in German, but also in their native languages. The President of the Carinthian Chamber of Labor, Günther Goach, underlines the importance of this offer for equal training opportunities: “With this offer, the AK Carinthia enables children with and without a migration background to lay a solid foundation.”

The Chamber of Labor's digital library not only consists of a variety of physical media - the media library offers, among other things, around the clock access to almost 35,000 media for download. The new digital picture and children's book service is provided in close collaboration with language and literature experts and can be used on tablets, smartphones or large screens. Roman Huditsch, head of the AK libraries in Klagenfurt and Villach, explains: “This means children can read their favorite stories in German and enjoy them in their native languages at the same time.”

A new year, a new offer

While Carinthia is busy upgrading digitally, the Upper Austrian Chamber of Labor is also breaking new ground with “Polylino”! This innovative service promotes playful learning of a second language and has already attracted 18,000 enthusiastic users since its launch. Children of kindergarten and primary school age in particular benefit from this offer as it helps them to develop their language skills in an entertaining way. AK President Andreas Stangl emphasizes the importance of this expansion: “With Polylino we are laying a solid foundation for the education of children with a migrant background.”

In addition to “Polylino”, the offering in Upper Austria also includes a huge range of e-books, audio books, films and newspapers. This comprehensive access to media is intended to ensure that all children, regardless of their background, have the opportunity to develop their language skills. This makes the reading adventure not only easier, but also more colorful!
