The starting point for the hike to the Winkelner hut is located in the village center of Winklern. Hikers must first turn left west at the church and follow a small road. According to a branch of the right, it goes over the fields up to the B 107, which is then hiked a bit before stepping up a small route to the right. The hiking trail leads through the forest and crosses the access road to the hut several times.
