Carina Edlinger wins medals at the Para World Championships – proud, but dissatisfied!
At the Para Cross-Country Skiing and Biathlon World Championships in Toblach, Italy, Salzburg's Carina Edlinger once again showed that she is an outstanding athlete. She won a total of four medals in the races, two of which were in biathlon and two in cross-country skiing. Despite this impressive achievement, the 26-year-old, who is visually impaired, is not completely satisfied. “Medals are of course always nice, but last season I would have won three gold medals,” says Edlinger, as reported by crown reported.
Strong performances and medals
In the first competition over 10 km classic, Edlinger finished second, the gold medal went to the Czech Simona Bubenickova. However, their time was 1 minute and 26.8 seconds slower due to their classification. On Friday she won the bronze medal in the 20 km skating with her guide Jakob Kainz. Previously there had been many challenges in the conditions due to the fresh snow and the deep cross-country ski trail. “I am very happy that I won a medal in the first race,” said Edlinger ARF reported.
In the men's category, Lukas Mrkonjic achieved the best Austrian result at the World Cup in Falun, Sweden. With a strong quarterfinal, he reached 15th place after only finishing 26th in qualifying. Benjamin Moser was unlucky in the final stages of his competition and fell, dashing his hopes of a better result. Moser finished the race in 21st place. Despite the disappointing moments, both athletes are optimistic about the upcoming World Championships in Trondheim, which will take place on March 4th and 5th.
