Literature competition Textfunken” 2025: Stories for the climate wanted!
The ORF Burgenland literary competition “Textfunken” starts on June 4, 2025. This competition is aimed at writers from Burgenland and has the central theme of “climate”. We are looking for unpublished short stories that illuminate the topic from different perspectives. Possible approaches include stories of departure, predictions of doom or even science fiction. Authors may use a maximum of 6,000 characters in their works and must live in the region or have origins there ots.at reported.
The deadline for submitting the stories is September 30, 2025. All texts must be submitted in PDF format by email to marketing.burgenland@orf.at with the subject “Textfunken 2025”. The winning text will not only be broadcast on the radio, but will also receive an author's fee of 500 euros. In addition, book vouchers from the Knotzer company in Mattersburg are available as additional prizes.
Presentation and voting
The presentation of the finalists and the announcement of the winners will take place in the “Funksalon” on December 4, 2025 in the ORF radio house in Eisenstadt. During this event, the finalists also have the opportunity to win the audience award through an online vote, as also on burgenland.orf.at is to be read.
The “Textfunken” competition is an excellent platform to promote the creativity of authors from the region and to focus on the important topic of climate. In addition to this competition, it is also possible to take advantage of other literary opportunities, such as the numerous other calls for proposals wortmagier.de are listed.
A total of 20 different calls for proposals for authors are currently active in German-speaking countries, with deadlines up to October 2025. Many competitions are also designed specifically for young artists who have the chance to present their works.
