Criminal Tango Festival: Neunkirchen dances despite crime!
The first “Criminal Tango Festival” was recently held in the city of Neunkirchen, an event that ironically took place in the middle of a series of criminal incidents. Mayor Jörg Aumann was pleased with the event, which has attracted around 2,700 visitors in the past two weeks and put the genre crime thriller for the foreground. Despite the challenging circumstances, the festival was a real magnet for the residents and visitors of the city.
aumann emphasized during a press release: "The festival was a complete success and lived up to our city center noticeably." This is a remarkable statement, especially in view of the police operations that have been taking place in the region recently. An important factor for the success of the festival was the financial support of the Hessian Ministry of Economic Affairs, which provides 192,000 euros for the years 2024 and 2025 to revitalize the city center and promote local retail.
diverse program and large number of artists
The festival offered a wide range of events with a total of 57 artists who captivated both locals and tourists with a varied program. There was something for every taste from readings to concerts to a True Crime Podcast. The highlights included the crime thriller walk, the crime conspirator and an entertaining crime dinner that provided additional attraction.
Aumann also announced that the festival should take place again next year. "We are planning to organize the festival for two weeks next autumn," said the mayor. These positive developments are a ray of hope for the cultural scene in Neunkirchen and could help improve the image of the city.
Before that, however, cultural life in Neunkirchen will continue on October 2 with a lecture by the actor Calle via "The rise and case of Mr. René Benko" in the former Kaufhof building. These events are in line with the endeavor to expand the cultural offers in the region and to have a positive impact on society.
It remains to be hoped that the focus in the future is more fictional and the citizens of Neunkirchen will be faced with actual criminal cases, as was the case in the past. The festival not only has meaning as a cultural event, but also shows that the city is able to pay positive attention, even in difficult times.
