Dolly Parton: This is how the perfect marriage has been successful for 58 years!
Dolly Parton, the legendary country icon, gives exciting insights into her long and happy marriage to Carl Thomas Dean in a current podcast. Married since 1966, the couple has an exceptional relationship based on mutual respect and individual interests. Parton says her husband made it clear early on that he didn't want to be involved in her musical career, which she knew from the start. "He loves my music, but he's not interested in being a part of it - which is what he told me from the beginning," the 78-year-old revealed on the "Dumb Blonde" podcast crown reported.
The two met in a laundromat in 1964 and tied the knot two years later - Parton was only 20 at the time. A curious highlight of their relationship was when Dean once had to change into a tuxedo for a gala. But after that single experience, which left him visibly uncomfortable, he decided: “Don’t ever ask me to go to one of these damn events again.” Since then, Dean has kept his promise and prefers to stay in the background while his wife conquers the world's stages. “He’s perfect for me!” enthuses Parton.
Family planning and creative freedom
Another topic that Parton addresses passionately is her lack of motherhood. In an interview with E! On-line She confessed that she and Dean originally thought they would have children too. “We even had names in case we ever did,” she said, adding how they often think about what their children would have become. Parton reflects that she probably would have been a great mother, but she sees things differently today - "God said I shouldn't have children so that everyone else's children could be mine." This statement illustrates how much Parton values her career and romantic relationship while bridging the gap between her public life and her private happiness.
