KTM bankruptcy meets Mattighofen: Mayor Daniel Lang is fighting for the future!
The city of Mattighofen is on the abyss! On November 29, KTM announced that an application for bankruptcy is inevitable, which results in drastic consequences for the entire region. The mayor of Mattighofen, Daniel Lang, had to assert himself primarily in the tense Corona period. Now he was confronted again with a crisis that has serious effects on jobs and the local economy. "The gap between income and expenditure is getting bigger," warned after the city had to adjust its budget to compensate for the financial losses, as the krone reported.
KTM insolvency and its consequences
The bankruptcy of KTM will not only burden the city itself. Numerous suppliers that hope for open invoices will presumably only receive a fraction of their claims in the bankruptcy proceedings. Klaus Berer, head of the Chamber of Commerce in the Braunau district, warned: "This can be threatening to exist for some." The uncertainty among employees and in other affected companies is great. This could significantly restrict the purchasing power of the population, since people carefully think about larger purchases, which, according to Berer, also strongly influences regional trade and gastronomy, such as MeinDeiten holds.
Despite the dark views, there are also voices of hope. Berer describes the current situation as a "adaptation process" and makes it clear that it cannot be assumed that many companies like KTM slipped into bankruptcy. The companies had already adapted their capacities and would navigate through this drought. But the more a company works in the automotive sector, the more tougher it will meet. The question remains: How long can the region survive with such dramatic cuts?
