Austria's research fund: Millions secured for future innovations!
The focus is currently on securing the future through research and technology, since an important financing step for Austria's innovation landscape is imminent. In 2025, the Fund Future Future Austria (FZÖ) will provide for the last time 140 million euros for research and technology projects, as IV general secretary Christoph Neumayer announced. Industry emphasizes the need to increase the funds for research, technology development and innovation in order to ensure the competitiveness of the location and jobs. Neumayer criticized the urgency to increase the FZÖ to at least 200 million euros per year, since he plays a central role in the targets of the 2030 FTI strategy, such as OTS reported.
For the current year 2024, decisions about the award of funds have already been made based on recommendations from the Council for Research, Science, Innovation and Technology Development. The focus is among other things the promotion of quantum technologies and Christian Doppler laboratories. In addition, a new AWS spin-off initiative is launched to make the innovation ecosystem more attractive for risk capital providers. The focus is on the development and economic exploitation of innovations in areas such as digitization and MINT regions. According to Neumayer, these measures are crucial to strengthen Austria and Europe's technological competitiveness in an increasingly globalized world, such as iv.at
