Professor swims through the Danube: Focus on microplastics!
A professor with a mission: Andreas Fath from the Furtwangen University of Applied Sciences has decided to draw attention to the alarming pollution of our waters. As part of his project, he was already swimming the Danube to collect valuable data and to bring the threatening situation closer to the public with regard to microplastics. According to his knowledge, four tons of microplastics flow into the Black Sea across the Danube every day. In order to clarify this, he will report and show in the film "to the sea" about his journey, how much the seas are already stressed, as .
not enough! From August 16, Fath will accept his next challenge and swim through the Elbe. He pursues the same goal: to sensitize the public to environmental protection and to raise awareness of the serious problem of plastic pollution. According to the WWF, around 6.1 million tons of plastic get into our rivers every year, half of which ultimately reaches the sea. However, three million tons remain in our waters. Fath, who is known as the "floating professor", has already swimming through the Rhine, the Tennessee River and the Danube in order to draw attention to this shocking reality, so Schwarzwaelder-bote.de .
The event for the demonstration of his film in Aalen, which is organized by the university's sustainability department, offers the audience the opportunity to talk to Andreas Fath. A three -meter -high water column will clearly show how cruel the rivers with microplastics are contaminated. Admission is free, and so everyone is given the opportunity to find out about this pressing topic and actively participate in environmental protection. So Fath not only draws attention to the problem, he also demands actions to protect our environment!
