Anniversary celebration of the Wels fire department: everyday heroes honored!
The mood was celebratory and proud when the annual general meeting of the Wels Volunteer Fire Department in Upper Austria took place on Friday, March 21, 2025. At this important event, not only were the outstanding achievements of the past year recognized, but numerous members were also honored. Among those present were comrades who were honored for their long-standing membership in the fire department and for special services in the fire service. The Upper Austrian certificate of honor. State Fire Brigade Association was awarded to Alfred Zeilmayr, Honorary Federal Fire Brigade Councilor, for 80 years of active service, and to Helmut Ehrensperger for 60 years. Both received standing ovations as a sign of recognition for their decades of commitment. This great celebration was witnessed by the members with full dedication and pride.
As part of the meeting, two new members were accepted into active service, which provided a breath of fresh air in the ranks. The fire brigade youth were also represented, with seven young people who took their vows and thus confirmed their commitment to the fire brigade. The event highlighted not only community cohesion, but also the commitment and dedication of the firefighters who often work in secret to provide safety and assistance.
