A dramatic fire held the emergency services in breath on Thursday evening in Tornesch, Merian-Straße! Over 70 firefighters from two fire departments have been fighting against the flames in a waste management company for more than 12 hours. Fortunately, there have been no injuries so far, but the situation remains tense!

at 7:00 p.m. the inferno was reported via the automatic fire alarm system. A tensile alarm for the Tornesch fire brigade was immediately triggered. Operational manager Florian Jungclaus and his team discovered a fire in a huge sorting hall of around 400 square meters. To combat the fire, a massive extinguishing attack was started, and the alarm keyword was increased to "Feu G", which meant fully alarm for the Tornesch fire brigade. The Uetersen fire brigade was also called for support.

intensive extinguishing work and constant danger

The fire brigade used impressive technology: over 4 C beam pipes, a thrower and the turning tube of the turntable ladder from Uetersen were mobilized. At 8:15 p.m., the operations management was finally able to report "fire under control", but the post -extinguishing work dragged on for hours. Again and again the fire flared up from the large pile of waste, which presented the emergency services with great challenges. In order to better reach the embers, the operating staff opened a side wall of the 15 -meter -high hall.

At night it was decided to clear the fire material out of the hall in order to finally fight all embers. Over 1000 meters of hose lines were laid to support the extinguishing measures. The DRK Uetersen was on site and provided the brave emergency services with breakfast, while the fire brigade is still tireless. The police have started the cause of the fire, while the amount of the damage is still unknown.
