EU help after storm: 3.1 million euros for Carinthia in reconstruction!
After the devastating floods in August 2023, which not only struck Austria but also Slovenia, financial support from the European Union (EUSF) solidarity fund has now been provided. The EU has decided to provide a total of more than 1 billion euros in order to support the affected regions in reconstruction. 5.2 million euros are available for Austria alone, such as EuropArt.eu reported.
Carinthia was particularly affected by Carinthia, where the torrential rains caused massive damage of around 200 million euros, of which 40 million euros alone are incurred on the infrastructure. The EU aid is used for the renovation of the damaged banks, in particular the Vellach and the Globasnitzbach, as well as to fix the damage in the village of Kosasmojach in Ebenthal. As kaernten.orf.at , it is a "major damage event", which makes the donations possible from the EU at all. The responsible civil servants emphasize that the 3.1 million euros that will be transferred in the coming weeks are only a small part of the total damage, but are an important contribution to support.important auxiliary funds for recovery
The extensive support underlines the growing need for the EU to assist the Member States in times of crisis. The funds should not only be used for reconstruction, but also for emergency measures, repairs of the damaged infrastructure and to ensure the cultural heritage of the affected regions. This financial aid is part of a more extensive aid package that also benefits other European countries such as Italy and Greece and shows that the consequences of natural disasters in Europe are increasingly serious.
