Stadtwerke Fürstenfeldbruck has introduced an innovative tool that offers a clear overview of electricity production in the region. With this new energy monitoring tool, citizens and businesses can see exactly how much electricity is being generated in real time from various renewable energy sources such as wind, solar, hydro and biogas. This is particularly important in order to make the progress and status of the local energy transition visible.
The online tool not only visualizes the yield from renewable sources, but also puts it in context with the current electricity consumption of households, industry and municipal facilities. On Wednesday at 1:35 p.m., for example, an impressive value of 98 percent self-sufficiency was displayed with a demand of 9,775 kilowatt hours. This value compares the total amount of electricity required in Fürstenfeldbruck with the renewable energy actually generated.
How the energy monitor works
The energy monitor is important for the 23 communities in the municipal utility's supply area and shows the fluctuations in electricity production and consumption throughout the day. This data is not static but varies depending on weather conditions, time of day and type of electricity mix. The municipal utilities aggregate information from different network operators, resulting in a comprehensive overview of the local energy balance. Predictive models are also used to optimize the data and highlight possible trends.
