Drama at the swan pond: young swan in mortal danger after dog attack!
In Wittenberg there was another unfortunate incident at the Schwanenteich that has left the local community in turmoil. After the swan "Diva", which was recently seriously injured by a dog bite, fought for its life, it was now the young animal that was found seriously injured. This happened on Sunday when the Lutherstadt Wittenberg West fire department was called to rescue the injured cub.
Patrick Anger, better known as the “Swan Whisperer”, informed about the dramatic circumstances via Facebook. The cub was so weakened that an urgent operation on the open wounds could not be carried out immediately in the veterinary clinic. These serious injuries raise questions about the safety of animals around the Swan Pond and increase concerns about future incidents.
Protective measures are being taken
The situation is tense and Anger did not discount the possibility of another attack. He recalled the incident on September 26th, when between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. a large dog attacked not only the cub, but also “Diva,” who was providing protection. The Swan Whisperer expressed shock at the fact that such an incident could happen again, highlighting the need for protective measures.
To ensure the safety of the swans, Patrick Anger decided to also take “Costa”, another swan, from the swan pond. The fire department complied with this request and several swans were brought to safety this Sunday. These quick decisions help minimize potential dangers to the animals.
After the successful operation, the fire department was extremely helpful and celebrated the completion of the operation with a donation of pizza provided by Domino's. Such gestures of support are important for firefighters in such stressful situations and promote community cohesion.
Both “Costa” and “Diva” are currently in the care of Patrick Anger. He ensures that the two swans receive the care and attention they so desperately need. The cub is now in the veterinary clinic, where medics will do everything possible to treat the wounds and restore its health.
In this challenging situation, the hope remains that the swans will soon be able to return to their natural environment once they have fully recovered. The events at Swan Pond highlight the importance of attention and protection for endangered wildlife, and the community is committed to doing everything in its power to prevent similar incidents in the future.
