Distraction at the wheel: The cell phone is so dangerous while driving!
The dangers of distracting activities in road traffic are often not anchored in the awareness of road users. Interior Minister Tamara Zieschang pointed out how risky even small distractions can be that appear everyday. She explained that changing a song on the smartphone can already lead to serious accidents while driving at a speed of 120 km/h. "A moment of inattentiveness can have dangerous consequences," she warned. Those who are only distracted for a second at this pace overcome about 36 meters, which corresponds to the length of eight cars.
In order to put these fields of the public in the public eye, the police have announced nationwide controls. These controls are aimed at all road users: drivers, truck drivers and cyclists. A special focus is on using cell phones and other electronic devices while driving. Policeists and police officers will also pay attention to the wearing of headphones, improperly secured loads and the correct attachment of children in the vehicle.
media controls
For journalists there is an opportunity to take part in a media control center on October 11, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to observe the measures up close. This initiative is part of a comprehensive approach to increase the safety in road traffic and to draw attention to dangerous behaviors. Further information on the procedure is available here .
