With an impressive budget of 53 million euros, the new bridge, which will have a length of 500 meters, will be built over the next four years. But there is also bad news for drivers! The existing bridge remains in operation by February 2026 before it is closed for a full 15 months. During this time, road users have to expect significant diversions. Around 7,000 vehicles use this bridge every day, which acts as a decisive connection between Wittenberg and Bitterfeld and as a feeder to the motorway 9. The blocking will strongly influence mobility in the region and put the patience of commuters to the test.
