Jubilee celebration of the Swav: optics look optimistically into the future!
Speyer, Deutschland - On November 9, 2024, the Technikmuseum in Speyer experienced a spectacular anniversary! Over 110 invited guests celebrated the 75th anniversary of the Southwest German optician and optometist association (Swav). The event, which took place in the impressive space hall, was opened by Matthias Müller, the chairman of Swav, and managing director Peter Kupczyk, with a sparkling champagne reception alongside the majestic space shuttle Buran. Among the guests was also ZVA President Christian Müller, who praised the fruitful cooperation in recent years.
A look into the future of optics
The celebrations were not only a review of 75 years of success, but also a look at the future of the optics! Matthias Müller spoke about exciting visions that are characterized by artificial intelligence and the shortage of skilled workers. The industry faces challenges, but also with great opportunities that arise from new technologies and innovative approaches. The guests were made by Dr. Christian Habekost alias Chako with Palatinate humor and a unique performance, while Swav Honorary Chairman Dieter Mollenkopf outlined the development of the association from the foundation of 1949.
The evening ended in a sociable round with cocktails and lively discussions in which the participants praised the successful event. The Swav remains an indispensable support for opticians in Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland and Hesse, and supports its members in all matters, from legal advice to public relations. This anniversary not only marks a festive occasion, but also a motivated departure into a future that is full of possibilities!
