Facade whispers: Wachenheim's history revealed in pictures!

A new chapter in Wachenheim's history is opening! The Wachenheim local history association has published “Facade Gehisper”, an impressive illustrated book about the city’s business world – then and now. The eagerly awaited book presentation will take place on Thursday, November 14th, at 7 p.m. in the culture barn of the renowned Bürklin-Wolf winery. Here the author Helge Kranz will present the fruits of her years of research and photography.

What is behind the old facades? Helge Kranz answered this question in a fascinating way. She has uncovered not only the stories of 150 buildings, but also the secrets that lie behind the doors of former grocery stores, bakeries, shoe shops and restaurants. The chronicle offers a unique look at the past by comparing historical images from the early 20th century with current photos. Many of the buildings depicted no longer exist today, which further reinforces the importance of this work.

A treasure for history buffs

The illustrated book comprises 208 pages and impresses with 900 photos that bring the Wachenheim business world to life. Those interested can purchase the book during the presentation or from Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at the Wachenheim Tourist Information for 44 euros.
