Austria's TOP employers: The best 25 worldwide in focus!

The list of “World’s Best Workplaces” 2025, published by Fortune and Great Place To Work, recently delivered an impressive result: Eleven of the awarded companies are also represented on the domestic Best Workplaces list in Austria. A total of 25 companies were honored that are characterized by outstanding employee satisfaction and an employee-oriented corporate culture. The results of this study are based on over nine million employee surveys, reflecting the experiences of more than 25 million employees. To be included in the global list, companies must employ at least 5,000 people and be represented in at least five national rankings in different regions, such as Leadersnet reported.

Hilton tops the ranking of the world's best employers, followed by DHL Express and Cisco. Other companies making the top 10 include Accenture, Marriott International, AbbVie, Salesforce, Siemens Healthineers, Allianz, Adobe and Hilti. Jörg Spreitzer from Great Place To Work Austria emphasizes the close connection between economic success and a positive, employee-oriented culture. Michael C. Bush, CEO of Great Place To Work, emphasizes that employees' trust in their employers plays a crucial role.

Factors for employee satisfaction

The Best Workplaces are rated based on confidential survey results and specific workplace culture assessments. Great Place To Work measures how well companies create an environment that promotes trust, fairness and opportunities for development. A comprehensive longitudinal study of employee satisfaction in the DACH region shows that satisfaction in Austria rose to 84% in 2023, with a historic high of 85% among the best employers, while in Germany approval ratings rose to 83%, as greatplacetowork.at determines.

The focus of these studies is on several fundamental building blocks that shape a positive corporate culture: credibility, respect, fairness, pride and team spirit. In particular, the credibility of managers is highlighted as crucial for a positive workplace culture. Transparent communication from management plays a key role in promoting trust and employee engagement.

Positive work environment

The study further shows that fairness in the workplace is critical to engagement and performance. Companies should therefore ensure transparency in pay and promotions. Satisfaction levels with regard to fairness are continuously increasing in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Pride in the work, the team and the company also promotes employee engagement and loyalty. A high level of pride leads to increased employee loyalty and therefore a strong team spirit.

The findings and recommendations from the study provide companies with valuable insights into improving workplace culture. Companies that promote a positive corporate culture not only benefit from higher employee retention, but also from a better reputation in the industry.
