The Benedictine monastery Corvey, founded in 822, plays a central role in the antique reception of the early Middle Ages. Weltenburg Abbey and their importance

The Weltenburg Abbey, another important Benedictine monastery, offers an exciting insight into over 1000 years of history in its visitor center in the historic rock cellar. The exhibitions there include amphorae from the Neolithic Age and the processing of the history of the monastery, which has its origins in the 7th century. Historical developments from antiquity to modernity are discussed as well as the current life of the Benedictines in Weltenburg, as described on the website of the Weltenburg Abtei

Visitors can admire the church designed by the Asam brothers, a masterpiece of baroque art. Tools from craftsmen and photographs of the monastery are also shown. The guest center offers a selection of films in German and English, while access requires a 10-minute walk from the parking spaces or the landing stage for ships.

The opening times of the visitor center are daily from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. from March to November, with special regular opening times in 2024. Admission prices for adults are EUR 3.00 and for children, trainees and students 2.00 EUR. A free cancellation is possible up to 8 working days before the appointment, after which a fee of EUR 30.00 is charged.
