Hope is fading at Türkspor Dortmund! After a bitter 3-0 defeat against FC Schalke 04's U23s, the relegation battle in the Regionalliga West has become a bitter reality for the promoted team. Now nine points behind the non-relegation places, the air is getting thinner and thinner for Dortmund. Interim coach Bülent Kara expressed his disappointment: “Leaving last place would have been good for morale.” But giving up is not an option for him - despite the worsening situation. “We will continue to fight until the end,” emphasizes Kara, even if the distance to the rescue zone becomes larger and larger.

Lack of luck and audience support

The game against Schalke was marked by unfortunate moments. Kara complains about a lack of match luck: “If we score 1-0, the game could go differently.” But the offense remained pale, and individual mistakes in defense were immediately punished. The 1.90 meter giant Mehmet Kaya, who is with the Turkish U-20 national team, was particularly sadly missed. Despite the sporting misery, Türkspor was able to welcome 961 spectators to the Ischelandstadion in Hagen on Friday evening - a sign of the fans' support. Kara regrets: “I think it’s a shame that we didn’t reward the viewers.” This eleventh defeat in the 15th game has finally snuffed out the previously burgeoning hope for improvement.

While the sporting situation remains tense, planning for the winter break is already in full swing. Kara, who has taken over the coaching position on an interim basis, reveals that a favorite for the successor has already been determined. The new coach should complete the entire preparation with the team and could already be on the bench for the highlight against MSV Duisburg. “We won’t completely overhaul the team,” says Kara, “but we will reduce the size of the squad.” Time is running out and fans are hoping for a turning point in the season!
